Audubon Park in the uptown New Orleans is a perfect place to spend the afternoon while you're visting the city. Take the streetcar from the French Quarter (about a 20-30 minute ride) and you can check out the mansions of the Garden District along St. Charles Avenue during the pleasant ride there. Audubon Park connects Tulane University and the Mississippi River and is the home of the Audubon Zoo, some kind of famous 19th century Golf Club, tennis courts, cool lagoons, lots of charming little gazebos, and the most enchanting moss-draped oak trees throughout the park. Oh and walking paths and horseback riding. Also check out the Tulane campus across the street- it's really beautiful.
