“There's nothing like it!!” |
Imagine a long hot trek to a plateau in the Andes, champagne and authentic chilean food for lunch, great sex on the plateau and then a siesta before making he long downward journey home, satisfied and happy....yep, there was nothing like it!!
Here's the real story....
Well...this was a test from the get-go. We had to be at the ranch at 9am, actually 8.45. Dee thought that it was probably only us so they would wait but there were four others - from England - so it was good that we finally managed to get there pretty much on time. At 9am it was already in the mid 20's and heading to be a hot, hot day. The area where we shode our horses was so authentic and by the time we had all mounted we had all got to know each other and it was a fabulous trip. We set off at 9.30 and none of us expected the steep narrow climb we had to do. we climbed higher and higher and every step of the way the view became more and more spectacular. Man i felt sorry for the horses.
We made a couple of stops for the horses and to give us a chance to dismount and stretch our legs. From ever step of the way the views were simply spectacular, and although it was so hot, it was an excursion i would not have missed for the world. Amazing for there to be snow on the mountains and then to be so hot as well. Didn't need the thermal jacket I bought!!
we searched for condors but didn't see any. There were about three dogs galloping up with us - two greyhound typs - real working dogs who dashed in and out with us and the horses. there was also a real hard case golden retriever - who was the most friendly dog i have ever come across - who was lovey and clean when we left but after chasing rabbits - ducking through the bushes and lying in every stream we came across became utterly filthy.
On the way down we stopped at a ranch house to water the horses - and the retriever suddenly appeared, clean as a whistle. I couldn't help but think what an adventure something like this would be for Nina!!
We arrived back worn out, hot and exhilerated by the experience. Dee, Roberto and the kids headed for the pool as did I but only for and hour before I had an appointment for a one hour massage - which was fabulous and I had no aches and pains the next day.
