This was the morning we had planned to do the river rafting. There was so much debate over whether or not all of us would go or some of us. First we were all going, then Roberto and i were so buggered we piked out the previous evening so the others canned it and we booked for the next morning. Then the next morning it was going to be just the kids and I, then Roberto said he would come, then Dee said she would come so finally we all headed off for out 10am start. Well wouldn't you know it, after all that indecision, as a result of the heat the day before the snow had melted and caused the river to run high and rafting was cancelled because the river was too dangerous......so no rafting.

We headed off to breakfast and then decided to do the hike to the waterfall...seeing that this is what the place is named after. They told us it was an easy walk and at the lower waterfall we cold stay for a while and swim. so off we went with quite a few others and a guide. the guide only spoke spanish so Roberto got the job of the interpreter much to everyones reliev as there were only a few who understood the guide.

Our guide said it wasn't too steep and there was only a six minute hard steep climb. How silly were we to think that a walk to the waterfall "way up" would be easy. As we walked for the first 10-15 minutes we thought "well that's the steep part over", then after a rest we continued stopping about 15 minutes later again thinking the same when the guide pointed out a path and said "six minutes steep"!! and was it steep. I will save you all the agony of seeing our photo's at the top...how those horses do it is beyond me.

The waterfalls however were spectacular, We trundled back down to the ower one, where much to robbied believe i actually went in for  a swim...It was, as ther call it here "fresh". It was really freezing but once it it was most refreshing. We stayed there for about half an hour and at the end of that time we had got to know al lot of the others with us. It was a really nice walk and the views were, as usual, just wonderful.

As a replacement for missing the rafting the kids did the flying fox over the Canyon...which Dee, Roberto and I were happy to watch.

then we headed off back to Santiago and a snack at Nano and anita's and then home to Renaca. ....tired and content with our adventure in Cayon de Maipo and Cataratas de los Animas.
