I was not real adventurous after my trip to Vina del Mar, since I did not get back to the hostal until after midnight. So I ventured to another area in Santiago called San Cristobal. Basically, it is a steep hill that bursts out of the ground. Like a cherry on top of a mound of ice cream, the religious statue of San Cristobal stands. (see photos)
To reach the top you ride what is called a funicular (cable railroad type car) and then once you stop you have many more steps to walk to get to the top (maybe I worked off my dessert from the day before!). Minus the smog, the 360 degree views of the Santiago city are impressive. (see photo)
On the way home I also took pics of the area/blocks in which I have been staying, which is referred to as the University District. Many, many Universities in the area. (see photo)
THE END
